Using the same picture twice

Sometimes you need to use a picture twice in your website, maybe once on the Home page and then again, larger, on the relevant webpage in a more detailed report.

The best results will be achieved by having two copies of the same picture with different names:

Tigger - small version

This is a nice sharp version of an image called Tigger the cat.jpg, set to 140 pixels wide (you can see the size of the image on bottom bar of the browser).

This is the same file inserted again, enlarged to 420 pixels wide - note that it is now not nearly so sharp.

Tigger on the front page.jpg

This time I made a duplicate of the image on my desktop giving it a different name - in this case Tigger on the front page.jpg - and now it's as sharp as the small version.

Both images are sharp because we are using two copies of the same image, there is no need to change the size of the second image.

The same is true for logos and other graphics.
